psychological Assessments

We provide a comprehensive psychological assessment service for children, teens and adults for a range of presentations including but not limited to intellectual functioning, memory, executive functioning, ADHD, Autism, specific learning disorders with impairment in reading, written expression or maths (sometimes better known as Dyslexia, Dysgraphia & Dyscalculia), Anxiety, Depression, Post-traumatic Stress. For Autism assessments, we are trained in both the ADOS-2 and MIGDAS-2 diagnostic assessments.

The assessment process starts with an intake interview of 60-90 minutes conducted via telehealth to gather information about your needs, and to screen developmental, family, education, social, medical and psychological history.  Then a diagnostic interview is  conducted via telehealth usually on the same day and takes 2 hours. Several questionnaires are also sent via email to you and someone who knows you well (family, friend, partner).

Cognitive and academic testing  is conducted via face to face in your own home/school over 2x 2 hour sessions, held on separate days.

Analysing the data and writing a comprehensive report takes time, so we typically schedule a feedback session for 4 weeks later via telehealth. Your comprehensive report will detail  results, highlight your strengths and differences and identify psychosocial support strategies and referral options.

Therapy Services

At this stage we are unable to provide ongoing therapy services but can refer you on to a suitable psychologist.

Fees

Psychological assessments are charged at $250 per hour.  The total cost of an assessment varies depending on the nature of the referral, the amount of tests used, direct client time, and indirect report writing time. You will be advised at point of referral about the exact cost of the assessment, but here is a guide:

  • Cognitive assessment $2000
  • Cognitive and academic assessment $2500
  • ADHD assessment $2000 (with cognitive testing $2500)
  • Autism assessment $2000 (with cognitive testing $2500)
  • Autism (and ADHD) assessment $2500 (with cognitive testing $3000)

Sometimes the cost of an assessment will extend beyond these prices, if additional testing is warranted, but you will be advised of this along the way.

Unfortunately at this stage Medicare do not offer rebates for most assessment services.

Your private health company may be able to offer a rebate for a portion of the assessment.

As of 1 July 2025, NDIS participants will be charged at the NDIS rate of $232.99 per hour.

Interstate and remote travel is charged separately when applicable.
